While I encourage alcohol consumption to be infrequent, I do love a clean and refreshing drink with a zing on a warm Friday night after a loooong work week. I love being able to sit outside and enjoy the summer weather with my husband and just “catch up” while we sip. The homemade jalapeño tequila is so easy to make and you can use it in a variety of recipes, including these spicy margaritas.
Jalapeno Infused Tequila
Two simple ingredients
- 8 ounces tequila
- 2 whole jalapeño peppers with seeds in tact
Fill a glass mason jar with tequila.
2. Slice jalapeno peppers into rings and pour into mason jar.
3. Seal the mason jar with a lid and store in a dark cupboard overnight.
4. The next day, pour tequila over a strainer to catch the seeds and rings, so that only tequila is poured into a new mason jar.
I made two variations of the spicy margarita recipes. One with lime and the other with grapefruit. We found the lime one to be a bit spicier than the grapefruit margarita.
Spicy Lime Margarita: In a shaker add an ounce of the jalapeño tequila, juice from 1.5 limes, 1.5 Tbsp. agave and ice. Shake well and pour into a glass. Top with club soda.
Spicy Grapefruit Margarita: In a shaker add an ounce of the jalapeño tequila, juice from 1/2 a grapefruit, 1.5 Tbsp. agave and ice. Shake well and pour into a glass. Top with club soda.
